GSG, in partnership with Ruffcorn Mott Hinthorne Stine, was retained to update and renovate the University’s main library. The Information Library & Learning Center (ILLC) project cost was $38 million which added 95,000 square feet and updated Coe Library’s existing 188,000-square feet.

Completed in October of 2009 the much needed renovation and modernization also included an addition which provided a new main entry, a new cafe area, flanked by a large atrium with banks of windows looking onto the lush landscaped quad. This welcoming environment serves as both a social gathering area and a study area for the both students and visitors. During the entire renovation process the existing library was kept fully operational. This vital effort required close coordination with the owner and construction manager at risk.
